Joyce V. Rister

Joyce V. Rister, 83, of Phillipsburg, NJ passed away on January 1, 2021 at the Care Center of Lopatcong.

Born July 5, 1937, in Phillipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Stephen Sandor and Mary M. Emrick Sandor. She was also predeceased by her husband, the late William R. Rister Sr., who passed in 2005, and son Timothy Rister, who passed in 2020.

Joyce was a graduate of St. Philip & St. James High School, Class of 1955, and was a longtime member of St. Philip & St. James Catholic Church. She enjoyed bingo, trips to the casino, as well as journeys to the Thousand Islands, Canadian side, along with boating and road trips with her husband. Mrs. Rister retired from the New Jersey State Police, after working at their Washington, New Jersey barracks.

Survivors are her sons: William Rister Jr. and wife Stacey, and David Rister and wife Jennifer. Grandchildren are Jaime Briggs, Jacen Rister, Brittany Pursell and great grandchildren: Justin Briggs, Joshua Briggs, Jacob Rice, Ashlyn Pursell, as well as many nieces and nephews. Additionally, Joyce was predeceased by siblings: Joseph Sandor, Margaret Beagle, Viola Magyar, and Frank Sandor.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
