Joseph Shornock

Joseph Shornock, 79, of Stewartsville, NJ passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, November 23, 2022. The family finds comfort knowing he has been reunited with his bride.

Born on June 26, 1943, in Perth Amboy, NJ, he was the son of the late Helen and Louis Shornock.

Joseph was predeceased by his wife, the love of his life, Kathleen (Burns) Shornock, who passed in 2014. They were married on November 16, 1968, spending 46 amazing years together.

Joseph lived most of his young life in Carteret, NJ, and raised his family with Kathleen in Perth Amboy, NJ. He worked as a chemical engineer for DuPont in Parlin, NJ, until his retirement in 2006. He was an avid Yankees fan and a suffering Jets fan. While he loved sports, his family is what gave him the most happiness. Joseph would do anything for his family. He would finish a double shift, take a cat nap, and head to coach a Perth Amboy Little League game. He coached both of his sons’ teams over the years. He would cheer on his daughter as she played softball and performed in plays. He clipped and saved all of the newspaper articles that mentioned his kids. Once he became a grandfather, Joseph relished that role and will forever be known as Pop-Pop. He loved spending time with his six grandchildren more than anything, and outings and vacations with them meant the world to him.

He is survived by his daughter Shannon (Shornock) Rezes and her husband John W. Rezes of Milford, NJ; his son Joseph L. Shornock and his wife Christy Boyle of Alpha, NJ; and son Benjamin M. Shornock, with whom he resided. He is also survived by his six beloved grandchildren, Emily Rezes, Johnny Rezes, Amanda Rezes, Colin Shornock, Dylan Shornock and Julian Shornock. He is survived by his sister-in-law Judy Ehman and her husband George Ehman; sister-in-law Linda Shornock; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also predeceased by his brothers, Michael, Louis and Edward.

As per Joseph’s wishes, there will not be services. The family will say goodbye to him graveside and celebrate his life everyday!
