Joseph "Joe" Szabo

 Joseph "Joe" Szabo of Allentown, passed away peacefully and fittingly on Father's Day.

He was the husband of the late Theresa "Tessie" (Varkonyi) Szabo who passed away in 2005.

He served in the Army during WWII, and at 101 years young, was one of the last remaining members of "The Greatest Generation." Joe spent most of his adult life in Easton and worked his entire career at Bethlehem Steel. He moved to Allentown in his retirement to be closer to his daughter and thoroughly enjoyed that last chapter of his life watching his grandchildren play sports and experimenting with a whole new world of friends, food, and restaurants. He was predeceased by his sister Julia and brothers John and Michael.

He is survived, and lovingly remembered, by his children: a son, Barry J. Szabo and his wife, Susan of Florida, and daughter, Debbie, wife of Joe Bubba of Allentown; his grandchildren: Catie Odenbach and Jason Szabo and Matthew and Brandon Bubba; and great-grandchildren: Lucy and Eliza Odenbach.

A viewing will be held from 9am to 11am on Friday, June 24, 2022, at Finegan Funeral Home, 4080 Wm. Penn Hwy, Easton, PA followed by a Funeral Service at 11AM. Interment will follow at The Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp., PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's name to the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley.
