Joseph J. DeMartino

He was the son of the late Vincent and Teresa DeMartino. Joseph was born on March 7, 1924. He was raised and spent his entire life in Easton. He married his beloved wife, the late Catherine Douris on September 20, 1947, and were married for 70 years. Joseph graduated from Easton High School and earned his degree in Special Education from East Stroudsburg University. He also completed graduate work at the University of Pennsylvania. The majority of his professional life was spent teaching within the Easton School district and the IU 20.  His students affectionately referred to as "Mr D.” After his retirement  he continued to remain active in the school district by substitute teaching and collecting tickets at the Easton 'Red Rover' high school football games, and was a devoted fan. He was an active member of Saint Anthony's Catholic Church, Easton, PA. He will be missed by his surviving family including his daughter, Joanne Marroni and her husband, Leonard, his son, Bruce DeMartino and his wife, Beverly, and son, Craig DeMartino and son-in-law, Paul Zucker. Joseph was grandfather to Stella Hammerstone, Leonard Marroni, Joseph DeMartino, Matthew DeMartino and Kara Castles, and great-grandfather to Mark and Morgan Hammerstone and Kayla and Kyle Castles. He was predeceased by brothers Frank, John, Tony, Charlie and Russell DeMartino, and John Pellicotti, and sisters Mary DeMartino and Anna Luccetti. And from Reading, PA sisters Anna, Sally, Betty and Edith. 

A calling hour will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018, from 9:00 to 10:00am at the Finegan Funeral Home at 4080 William Penn Highway in Palmer Township, PA., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 9th & Lehigh Sts. in Easton, PA a. The interment will be at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Williams Township, PA. Visit
