John P. DePaolis

John P. DePaolis passed away on June 24, 2020.  He was 83.  Born on March 26, 1937 in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was the son of Pietro DePaolis and Angelina Micarelli DePaolis.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara, of 58 years.  He was a devoted father and is survived by his three children, Peter, Rosemary, and Jamie and her husband, Daniel Noel,  two grandchildren Angelina Tso, Cody Tso and his wife, Keena and two great-grandchildren, Lucca and Keaton.  He is also survived by his brother, Enrico DePaolis.  He was predeceased by his brother, Gildo; sister, Algia. His granddaughter, Olivia Noel and step-granddaughter, Fiona Tso, and daughter-in-law, Rosa DePaolis preceded him in death also.

John graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1954.  He joined the Navy where he served 4 years, assigned on the USS Rival.  He worked at Atlantic States and then Hoffman La Roche until his retirement.  John also was a licensed electrician and was always helping someone.  He could fix just about anything.  With his friendly smile he was happy to talk to friends and strangers.  He volunteered as a fireman for Warren Chemical Engine Company and as a coach for Steel Hill baseball.  He was a member of the Italian American Social Club and Citizens Hose.  John was a lifetime parishioner of St. Philip and St James Catholic Church.  

Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 2nd, 2020 at 11 am at Holy Apostles Mausoleum in St. Philip and St. James Cemetery in Greenwich Twp., NJ.  John’s family respectfully asks, that anyone who plans to attend,  in order to respect our community, please wear face masks  and exercise social distancing.  Also, if you are so inclined, feel free to remain in your vehicle at the cemetery.
