Born in Easton on November 30, 1937, he was the son of the late Howard and Cecelia Leitner Hanks.
Tom retired in 1999, after many years, as the Building Inspector/Zoning Officer for Forks Twp. He had previously worked with Rexroth and Roche Vitamins. He was a 1955 graduate of Cranwell Prep School in Lenox, MA, and then graduated from Churchman’s Business School, formerly in Easton. Tom was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, he was a volunteer with the Northampton County Meals on Wheels and The State Theater. He was an avid skier, gardener and Philadelphia Eagles fan.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sandra McAtee Hanks, one daughter, Lynn Hanks, one granddaughter Alicia Hanks-Cortes, and two great-grandchildren, Dante and Sophia. Tom was predeceased by his brothers, Howard Jr. and George Hanks, and sisters Nancy Chaize and Cecelia Parrez.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Friday September 28, 2018, at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Ave., Palmer Twp., Pa. Interment will follow in Palmer Twp. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice, 240 Union Station Plaza, Bethlehem, Pa. 18015.
