Jennie Marie Fisher Barna

Jennie Marie Fisher Barna, of Belfast, PA, formerly of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023. She was a daughter of the late Angelo (Charles) and Rose Sabatine Fisher, formerly of Roseta, PA.

Jennie attended Phillipsburg High School, worked at Transgram Toys, Pioneer Sportswear, Valerie Fashions, Tatamy Garment, and A&H Sportswear, from where she retired at age 80. She was a union representative for the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and held various offices, including shop steward, for Local 234. She was a representative from 1982 until her retirement in 2013. She was an avid gardener and loved to crochet. Jennie also loved to listen to Oldies music from the 1950’s and 60’s on Sirius Radio and would sit outside her home, listening for hours.

She is survived by her son, Joseph C. Barna, his wife Patricia, and her granddaughter, Kristen Barna. In addition to her son, she is survived by her sister, Dolores Fisher Baska, and sister-in-law, Rose Marie Fisher. Also surviving are two nieces, Darlene Baska Graves, and husband Kenneth, and Jackie Fisher Duffy, and a nephew, Daniel J. Fisher. Jennie was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel C. Fisher.

A calling hour will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023, from 10-11:00am at the Finegan Funeral Home at 302 Heckman Street in Phillipsburg, NJ, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00am at the funeral home. The entombment will be at the Holy Apostles Mausoleum in Greenwich Township, NJ.
