Janet Davis

Born in Phillipsburg on December 20, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Glen and Margaret (Olexa) Davis.

After working as a department manager in Pomeroy’s Department store in Easton, Pa., she spent the rest of her career working first as a library assistant at the Phillipsburg Free Public Library in Phillipsburg, N.J., then as the library director at the Washington Public Library in Washington Borough, N.J., and lastly as a reference librarian and later assistant director at the Warren County Library in Belvidere, N.J.  During her thirty-three years as the “library lady” she was privilege to meet many wonderful people throughout Warren County.  Her education included a BS from Kutztown State College, an MA from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and a Master of Library Service from Rutgers University.  Janet was a life-long Green Bay Packers fan.  For her, the perfect day was a snowy day with the Packers game on TV and a big pot of chicken noodle soup on the stove.  Janet loved to read, do word puzzles, and play her accordion or keyboard.  She also liked going to rummage and yard sales and dining out.  In retirement, she especially enjoyed her daily early-morning walks and stopping at the Shell station to get her caramel coffee.

Janet is survived by three brothers, Robert Glen and his wife Margaret of Lenexa, Kansas, and Thomas and Daniel of Las Vegas, Nevada.  She is also survived by her nephew, Dwight Davis and his two children, Tyler and Madison of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

At Janet’s request, there will be no services.  Interment of ashes will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Alpha, N.J.  The Finegan Funeral Home in Phillipsburg will be handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made in Janet’s name to the Phillipsburg Free Public Library, 200 Broubalow Way, Phillipsburg, N.J. 08865.
