James R. Blackford Sr.

James R. Blackford Sr., 82, of Phillipsburg, NJ passed away on June 29, 2021 at St. Luke’s Warren Campus in Phillipsburg.

Born January 24, 1939 in Elizabeth, NJ, he was the son of the late Frank Blackford and Belinda Gano Blackford.

Mr. Blackford was employed for 30 plus years with the US Postal Service in Linden, NJ and had previously served in the US Army. He was known as a lover of Life Savers.

Survivors are his wife, Maureen Sheedy Blackford, and children; Denise Williams and husband Robert, Darlene Cuttic and husband Thomas, James R. Blackford Jr. and wife Maryann, and Robert Blackford and wife Krista. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and a brother, Richard Blackford. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by a brother Frank and sisters Helen and Cassie.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021 from 2-6 pm at the Finegan Funeral Home at 302 Heckman Street in Phillipsburg, NJ, followed by a funeral service at the funeral home at 6:00 pm.
