James R. “Wolfie” Wolfe

James R. “Wolfie” Wolfe, 79, of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on February 9, 2024, at his home.

Born September 7, 1944, in Phillipsburg, he was the son of the late Arthur W. Wolfe and Helen Hamlin Wolfe. He was predeceased by his wife, the late Cheryl I. Sutton Wolfe, who passed in 2006.

He was a longtime employee of Ingersoll Rand, in Phillipsburg, working as an inspector. After retirement he was employed as a bus driver. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was best known for his 1955 and 1957 Chevy Belair’s and could be found frequently at “cruise night” at Joe’s Steak Shop.  Jim was also a diehard Phillipsburg fan and bled Garnet and Gray.

Survivors are his children; Tara L. Wolfe and companion, Nick Cuff, and James W. Wolfe and companion, Holly LaCour. Grandchildren are Jena Wolfe, Jade Wolfe, Corey Youngkin, and Sean Youngkin, as well as 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Thomas Wolfe and sister-in-law, Nancy Wolfe. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also predeceased by brother Arthur Wolfe and sister, Helen Ann Young.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, from 6 – 8 pm at the Finegan Funeral Home at 302 Heckman Street in Phillipsburg.
