James H. “Squirt” Boylan

James H “Squirt” Boylan, 83, of Easton, PA, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2020, at Alexandria Manor in Nazareth, PA.

Born on March 27, 1937, in Easton, PA, he was the son of the late John M. and Anna M. (Gier) Boylan. He was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Patricia (Boylan) Luburich.

James graduated with Easton Catholic High School’s class of 1955; he then began working at Bethlehem Steel, where he worked until 1970 when he left to work as an Engineer for Conrail, which later became Norfolk Southern. He worked for the railroad for 30 years, retiring in 2000. James was a member of St. Bernard’s Church, in Easton, PA and in 1997 he was inducted into the Notre Dame High School (formerly Easton Catholic) Athletic Hall of Fame for basketball. James loved sports, was a well-respected and established baseball umpire and basketball referee in PA / NJ, coached youth basketball and was always in attendance at his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. James was also known for his love of good food and good music, having a special appreciation for the works of Frank Sinatra.

He is survived by his daughters, Marcy Foulk and her husband Chris, of Easton, PA and Lisa Boylan and her companion Jeff Frantz, of Slatington, PA, his sons, James Boylan and his wife Deborah, of Greenwich Township, NJ, Brian Boylan and his wife Sandy, of Palmer Township, PA, and Kevin Boylan, his grandchildren; Shayna, Ella, Michael, Kyle, Brianne, Matt, Lauren, Sean and Ryan, his nine great-grandchildren, his siblings, John “Jake” Boylan and his wife Joan, of Palmer Township, PA, and Eileen Pecsek, of Bethlehem, PA, and his nieces and nephews. James was also predeceased by his sisters, Patricia Boylan and Marie Dornsife.

Services are to be held privately due to Covid-19 Restrictions. The Finegan Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
