Born July 29, 1934, in White Township, N.J., he was the son of the late John C. Baylor and Blanche Kruger Baylor.
Mr. Baylor was employed with the US Postal Service for 35 years in Phillipsburg, N.J. after service in the US Navy. He also worked as a crossing guard for the Phillipsburg School District. He enjoyed square, round, and line dancing, was a 20 year volunteer at St. Luke’s Warren Campus, was a Class of 1952 graduate of Phillipsburg High School where he was a tuba player in the marching band, was a member of the event staff for Lafayette College football games, attended Phillipsburg Town Council meetings and served on the town zoning board as well as with the local fire police. Harold was a member of the Garnett Booster Club and enjoyed Phillipsburg football games. He was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church where he served as a deacon, usher, council member, worship assistant, Eucharistic minister, and member of the choir.
Survivors are his wife, Joan E. Lewis Baylor, who he would have celebrated 60 years of marriage with this coming October 17th, and children; Michael Baylor and wife Judy Haley, of Phillipsburg, Doug Baylor and wife Kim, also of Phillipsburg, and Edna Lewis and husband John, of Palmer Township, PA. Grandchildren are Ryan and Madison Baylor. Additionally, Mr. Baylor is survived by a sister, Mildred Dalrymple and husband Roy, of Fort Meyers, Florida and brother Ralph Baylor and wife Connie, of Knox, PA. Mr. Baylor was also predeceased by brothers John and Leroy Baylor and sisters Rosanna Deemer and Evelyn Baylor.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2019, at the Finegan Funeral Home at 302 Heckman Street in Phillipsburg from 6-9pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00am at the Grace Lutheran Church at 300 Roseberry Street in Phillipsburg, N.J. The interment will be private.
