Graziella (Grace) Dougherty

Grace was born October 19, 1922, to the late Peter and Anna (Rizia) Russo. She was the last remaining child predeceased by seven brothers, Francis, Harry, Pat, Louis, James and Julius Tersigni and her twin Salvatore Russo, along with two sisters Helen Muretta and Yolanda Savary.

Grace is survived by her loving husband, James Dougherty of 45 years. She is lovingly remembered by her five grandchildren, John J. Durnin, III and his wife Aimee, Michele Sands and her husband Kevin, Christine Deacon and her husband Bob, Bridget Pastula and her husband Matt, and Holly Merante and her husband Terry. Nine great-grandchildren, (Chuck, Sasha, Bobby, Alex, Sophia, Stella, Gracie, Zachary, and Maggie) and two great-great-grandchildren (Riley and Charlie), and many nieces and nephews. Grace had one daughter, Marlene, whom she adored. Unfortunately, Marlene predeceased her in death and now they are together for all eternity.

She was known to many as Nanny Grace and was a very special aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She worked many different jobs but will always be known for working side-by-side with family at Luigi’s Rancho, in Belvidere, NJ.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Alpha, NJ. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family at the round table. Services will be private due to covid-19. A celebration of life will be planned by her family once the pandemic is resolved.

The Finegan Funeral Home, Alpha, NJ has been entrusted with her arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in remembrance of her beloved daughter, Marlene, to the American Cancer Society at cancer.org
