Geoffrey Alan Hammell

Geoffrey Alan Hammell, died December 17th, 2022 due to complications arising from pneumonia. He was born in Louisa County, Virginia, February 8, 1957. He was 65 years old.

He was pre deceased by his parents Laurence Hammell and Beulah Mae Hammell and recently by his stepmother AnneMarie Hammell.

He is survived by his partner and fiance, Brenda Fialk, and her grandchildren, including Tatiana, Isaiah, and Raileigh. Geoff is also survived by his siblings: Patricia Kashtock, Jacqueline Catalano, Cynthia Hammell, William Hammell, and Timothy Hammell.

Geoffrey attended Highland Park High School, Middlesex County College, and Rutgers University. He had a successful career on Wall Street where he began working as a margin clerk He worked his way up the ladder and became the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Labranche Financial Services LLC and then was the Vice Chairman at Montecito Advisors Inc. trading IPOs. Geoff was working close by the twin towers on 9/11. He said they were all sure they were going to die that day. After making sure his workmates had safely gotten out of their building, he fled through the streets barely able to see five feet in front because of the dust and debris floating in the air. He arrived home via the ferry, thickly covered in concrete dust and soot from the collapsing towers.

Geoff was an accomplished musician and played with several bands. His main instrument was piano along with various keyboards. He also played guitar and trumpet. His first band started in 5th grade and was called the "Psychedelic Bananas". He played in many locations in New Jersey and New York, but mostly along the New Jersey shore. He opened for Johnny Winter at the Count Basie Theater playing with his band "Down the Line." He also played at the Count Basie Theater with his band "Red Bank Boogie".

As well as collecting instruments, Geoff loved collecting classic cars and artwork.

When Geoff was 15, he committed his life to the Lord. Even though 15 years is young and life is long enough to experience a number of up and downs in such a journey, the Lord never allowed Geoff to forget that commitment. Through thick and thin, Geoff found the Lord was always with him and refused to let him go. Geoff would be the first to tell you that even when we wander, the Lord remains faithful, just as He promised. The presence of God in Geoff's life was evidenced through his extreme generosity and kindness to just about everyone he knew.

Although he had no children of his own, Geoff was a loving grandfather to Brenda's grandchildren especially Tatiana, Isaiah, and Raileigh through taking care of them starting when they were young.
