F. Lorraine Vincent

She was the loving and devoted wife of Richard G. Vincent (deceased) for nearly 70 years.

Lorraine was born in Wilmington, Delaware in 1926 and graduated from P. S. Dupont High School.  Growing up during the Great Depression, Lorraine saw her older brothers go off to fight for freedom in World War II and began her work career in the data processing department of the Dupont Chemical Company.  Lorraine married Richard, the love of her life, in Wilmington, Delaware on September 13, 1947.  The Vincents called the Lehigh Valley home for all of their married life.

Children were the delight of Lorraine’s life:  her own, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as the many children whose lives she touched as a day care, a pre-school, and a special needs instructor.   She studied Early Childhood Education at Northampton Community college and Marywood University, Scranton, PA.

Lorraine has been a faithful member of Calvary Community Church in Harmony, New Jersey for seven decades.  She shared her quiet faith with the church family by serving on various church committees and as a Sunday School and Nursery School Teacher.

Lorraine was passionate about gardening and enjoyed both her own herbs and flowers as well as visits to many public gardens in her worldwide travels with her late husband.  She delighted in extended family vacations at quiet beaches, where her family could enjoy the natural surroundings and each other away from the distractions of daily life.  In their retirement years, Lorraine and Richard spent many months traveling the country and the world, visiting family members and experiencing diverse cultures.

Those honoring Lorraine’s legacy and remembering her with love include her children:  Lorinda Macaulay (Ron), Robert Vincent (Melissa), Richard Vincent (Shannon), Kenneth Vincent (Kerri), Judith deBoer (Peter), and Christina Ruoss (James), her 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Wilson (nee Vincent).

Lorraine will be interred at Calvary Community Cemetery, Harmony, NJ.  Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made in Lorraine’s name to the chaplaincy at Cedarbrook Senior Living Center, 350 Cedarbrook Road, Allentown, PA, 18105.
