Elizabeth M. "Betty" Erickson

She was born on Nov. 9, 1947, in Phillipsburg, NJ, the daughter of the late Frank A. and Mary A. Paolini Nemeth. Her husband, Eric N. Erickson Sr., whom she married on June 13, 1970, passed away in 2012. 
Betty devoted her life to a career in special education. She worked with severely handicapped children and adults before teaching for 28 years at the Shimer School and Pohatcong Twp. elementary schools.

Betty graduated from Warren Hills High School in 1966, Newark State Teachers College in 1970 and then went on for her Master's in Special Education at Centenary College in 2004. 
She was a member at St. Jude Catholic Church, Blairstown, NJ, where she was active in the food pantry; Oxford Second Presbyterian Church; the ladies auxiliary of the Marine Corps League; Mecsey Bishop American Legion in Stewartsville, NJ; Knowlton Twp. Seniors; Blair Women's Club; and North Warren Seniors. Betty loved gardening, going to casinos everywhere, especially playing the slot machines, and in the last few years of her life she became a world traveler.

She is survived by her children, Eric N. Erickson Jr. and his wife, Christine; Brenda M. Delibero and her husband, Kevin; and Heather Elizabeth Erickson. Betty is survived by her sister, Barbara Dixon, and six grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, Brenda Nemeth.

Viewing hours will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The Finegan Funeral Home, 302 Heckman St., Phillipsburg, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday March 27, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 7 Eisenhower Rd., Blairstown, NJ. Interment will be at Northampton Memorial Shine, Easton, PA.
