Elinora I. "Ellie" McElroy

Born on Aug 7, 1933 in the Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of Kurt and Adda Otto.  She was also predeceased by sisters Ingrid Treadway and Dolores Heitsmith, and husbands Kenneth McElroy and John Kindred. She was known to be a “Survivor” having lived through WW II in Germany, Breast Cancer, and various hurdles in life.

She always had a strong work ethic and worked at many jobs. She was especially proud to use her family talents by working at Javes Bakery in Milford, NJ. She held a prominent position as a pattern maker at Country Miss in Forks Twsp. Her lifetime career was working at Hunterdon Developmental Center as a teacher’s assistant for 15 years, where she then returned to volunteer as a foster grandmother for 15 years, where she loved every individual as if they were her own. Ellie who was always driven by her generous need to care for others then volunteered at Warren Hospital for 5 years.

She is survived by her 3 daughters, often referring to them as “her girls,” Cathy Armstrong Frey, Linda Armstrong Esposito, and Sue Armstrong Schisler  (husband Bill),  whom were her greatest joys in life, as well as her 8 grandchildren: Jessie, David, and Zachary Frey; Lauren and Raquel Esposito; Derek, Roxanne, and Tara Schisler, and her 8 great grandchildren.  She never missed an opportunity to spend time with them doing something fun or attending one of their activities.

She loved music, dancing, playing the piano, crafts, and the outdoors. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church for 40 years. She spent every day of her life trying to find something good to do for others. She loved deeply and was loved in return. Although no amount of time with her would have ever been enough and she will be sadly missed, her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace in Heaven.
