Donald M. Demko

Born March 31, 1957, in Wilkes Barre, PA, he was the son of the late Martin Demko and Lois Hill Carichner.

For the past 25 years Donald was employed at PMC – Polymer Products in Stockertown, PA, in charge of research and development. Previously he had spent 8 years at Anaquest in Murry Hill, N.J., as a research chemist. Donald had graduated from the Hanover Area High School, received a Bachelor of Science degree from Wilkes College in chemistry and earned his PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Rochester, with post-doctoral studies at Penn State University. A member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, he was involved in the church’s Pilgrim Statue Ministry for 25 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Union Council 345, where he was a 4th Degree Knight and also served as Grand Knight for 4 years.

Survivors are his wife, Diane M. Kowalski Demko, with whom he celebrated 36 years of marriage in June of 2019, and children: Kevin Demko and wife Stephanie, of Havertown, PA, Melissa DeStefano and husband Russell, of Pottstown, PA, and Elizabeth Falcone and husband Michael, of Bethlehem Township, PA., as well as four grandchildren: Julia Demko, Dominic & Gabrielle DeStefano, and Joseph Falcone. He is also survived by sister, Deborah Smith of Wilkes Barre, PA.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2020, from 3-6 pm at the Finegan Funeral Home at 4080 William Penn Highway in Palmer Township, PA, with an additional calling hour on Monday from 9:15 am to 10:15 am at St. Janes, 4049 Hartley Avenue in Palmer Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:30 am at the church. The interment will be at Holy Savior Cemetery in Bethlehem.
