Dolores M. Charles

Dolores M. Charles, 81, of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on July 3, 2020 at The Easton Home, Easton, Pa.

She was born on November 4, 1938 in Phillipsburg, the daughter of the late Kalman and Fannie Lancsek Osvatics.  Her beloved husband, Russell F. Charles Jr., passed away in 2016. At the time of his death, they had celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Dolores was employed with Sanco Piece and Dye Works Inc., formerly in Phillipsburg, as a payroll supervisor. She was the secretary for Dr. Herbert K. England, Superintendent of the Phillipsburg School District. Also, she was a Teacher’s Aide at Freeman School and the secretary to the Dean of Academic Services at Lafayette College.

Dolores graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1956 and was active with the class reunion committee. She was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels at Warren Hospital. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg, and served the church’s council and finance committee, and was a Sunday school and confirmation teacher as well.

Survivors are her daughter, Kelli Balas of Lopatcong Twp., NJ; her aunt, Mary Fortner of Palmer Twp., Pa.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her beloved son in law, Timothy John Balas; and her brother Richard Kalman Osvatics.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday July 8, 2020 at 10:15 am at Greenwich Cemetery, 15 Greenwich Church Road, Greenwich Twp., NJ. The Finegan Funeral Home, Phillipsburg, NJ, has been entrusted with arrangements.
