David ”Gene” Kays

Born on June 20, 1933 in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was the son of the late Ponsford and Claire Tirrell Kays.

Gene was an assistant vice president with Phillipsburg National Bank, working there for 43 years.

He enjoyed Notre Dame University Football, was an avid fan of baseball but especially liked the Boston Red Sox, enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, loved his animals and was a lifetime member of the Citizen Hose Co. In addition to his parents, Gene was predeceased by his siblings, Jack Kays, Charles Kays and Sister Mary Eloise Claire Kays.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marion Metzger Kays, his loving children, Marie Rickey and her husband Lee of Bangor, Pa., Charlene Breiner and her husband Dan of Forks Twp., Pa., and David E. Kays of Easton, Pa. He is also survived by his brother Phil Kays and his wife Dorothy of Phillipsburg, NJ, and his sister, Jane Louise Daiello of Easton, Pa. Additionally; he is survived by his grandchildren, Lauren, Daniel, Vanessa, Brianna and Josh, along with his great-granddaughter, Elyse Noelle.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 from 6PM to 8PM at The Finegan Funeral Home, 4080 William Penn Highway, Palmer Twp., Pa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 10:30AM at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Ave. Palmer Twp., Pa. Interment will follow at the Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp., Pa.
