Christopher J. Kurina

Christopher J. Kurina, 82, of Bethlehem, PA, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2020, after suffering a stroke and fighting a prolonged battle with cancer.

Born on January 31, 1938, in Lansford, PA, he was the son of the late Rudolph and Anna (Valuch) Kurina.

Christopher attended St. Michael’s Parochial School and then entered into the Franciscan Order. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 13, 1964. He spent his first few years teaching high school at Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown, OH, spending many years of his ministry thereafter in Pittsburgh, PA. He then worked for Easton Hospital, in Easton, PA, after leaving the priesthood in 1987.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Joanne (Albert) Kurina, his daughter, Bethany Marek and her husband Michael, his grandchildren, Abel and Miriam, his sisters, Joanne Kurina and Theresa Shoemaker, his many nieces and nephews and his three step-children. Along with his parents, Christopher was predeceased by his sister, Marianne Brown.

Services are to be held privately. The Finegan Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
