Carole A. Smith

Carole A. Smith, 74, of Easton, Pa., was promoted to angel status on June 20, 2021. She was surrounded by her devoted family.

She was born on September 23, 1946 in Cincinnati, OH. Carole was the daughter of the late Robert and Geraldine (Smith) Berning.

Carole was married to Richard Smith of Easton, PA, who was her loving husband, treasured travel companion and dance partner. Carole graduated Summa Cum Laude from the College of New Jersey with a degree in History. This was an impressive feat after many years of night school. Carole used her vast knowledge to compete on Jeopardy and remained a game show enthusiast. She was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.  Carole worked for National Starch as a customer service supervisor. In Carole’s spare time she enjoyed oldies dances, her reading club, bridge, crime shows and attending her grandchildren’s events. Carole’s kind spirit and courageous optimism will be missed by all that knew her.

In addition to her husband, Carole is survived by daughters, Jennifer Collado (Rolando) of Maineville, OH and Kelly Romanoskie of Somerville, NJ., 2 brothers Robert Berning (Ginny) of Simi Valley, CA and Richard Berning (Debbie) of Batavia, OH and a sister, Janis Willenbrink of Mason, OH. She is survived by her grandchildren; Christopher (Megan), Ryan (Nichole), Nicholas, Benjamin, Julianna, Brianna (William), Jake and Alexa and her great-granddaughters, Kelly, Isabel and Louisa. Carole was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Susan Schmidt and Gerilyn Berning.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 from 3PM to 5PM at The Finegan Funeral Home, 4080 William Penn Highway, Palmer Twp., Pa., followed by a prayer service at 5PM.
