Carl L. Austin Sr.

Born on Feb. 28, 1928, in Montclair, NJ, he was the son of the late Carlos and J. Adele Koch Austin.

Carl was a U.S. Army veteran serving during peacetime from 1946 to 1948. He was a manager for American Insurance Association which was a trade group. Carl was a graduate of Montclair High School, Class of 1946. He then went on to graduate from Hobart College in 1952, which was in Geneva, NY. He was a member of Phi Beta Tau Fraternity.
He was married to Roberta Elizabeth Haas on July 14, 1956, and then remarried on Dec. 17, 2011, to Marie Kantorek.

Carl lived in Summit, NJ, from 1958 to 2011, then moving to Pen Argyl, PA, from 2011 to 2019. He truly enjoyed taking walks, fly fishing and Standardbred Racing. He was a member of Dream Mile Club (Fly Fishing Club) since 1964. He served on its board of directors for 30 years, was president of the club from 1990 to 1992.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Roberta Haas Austin, and his sister, Adele Pulliam Finnegan.

He is survived by his second wife, Marie, his son, Carl L. Austin Jr. and his wife, Janine, of Stewartsville, NJ, along with his grandson, Nicholas Austin.

A calling hour will be held on Friday, Oct. 18, 2019, from 10 to 11 a.m. at The Finegan Funeral Home, 4080 William Penn Highway, Palmer Twp., PA, followed by a service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Harmony Presbyterian Cemetery, Harmony Twp., NJ.
