Barbara Jean Koegler

Barbara Jean Koegler (nee McMahon), 92, of Easton, PA, passed away peacefully, October 7, 2021 at Country Meadows – Bethlehem Retirement Community while in hospice care after a lengthy illness.

Bobbie, as she was called by her family and friends, was born on August 5, 1929 to John H. McMahon and Grace M. McMahon (Hart) in Jersey City, NJ.  She was the younger of two girls and grew up in Oceanside, NY.

She married John R. Koegler in 1952. Together they raised five children, Paul (Barbara), Linda Fritz (Charles), Claire Gustafson (Brian), Loretta Susen (John) and Peter in Oceanside, NY and later in Wyckoff, NJ. She is also lovingly remembered by twelve grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Bobbie is best remembered for her beautiful smile, loving and generous spirit, fierce love of God and her Catholic faith, devotion to her family and friends, and love of babies and animals.  Among her many joys were cooking, baking, crocheting and maintaining a beautifully decorated home. But her greatest joy was taking care of her children and grandchildren. 

Bobbie is predeceased by her loving and devoted husband of 68 years, her parents and her sister, Peggy. She is survived by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister in law, Lillian, several cousins, numerous nieces and nephews and several lifelong friends.

Visitation will be held from 8:30 AM – 9:45 AM on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Finegan Funeral Home, 4080 William Penn Highway, Palmer Township, PA.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy (formerly St. Bernard’s) RC Church at 10:30 AM. The Interment will follow at the Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Township, PA.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Country Meadows Forks and Bethlehem campuses for the compassion and support to both of their parents and entire family and Compassus Hospice for helping to make the past few weeks as comfortable as possible for Bobbie.
