Alexis M. Knerr

Alexis M. Knerr, 74, of Lopatcong Township, NJ, passed away peacefully in the presence of her son and daughter in law, on Friday, February 26, 2021.

Born on March 8, 1946, in Easton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Margaret (Frisch) Moppert. Alexis was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Dennis Knerr Sr., in 2008.

Alexis graduated with Phillipsburg High School’s class of 1964 and went on to retire from the Stepping Stone School, in Bloomsbury, NJ, where she worked as a teacher’s aide. She was known to be a very kind and selfless person whose door was always open to anyone in need. Alexis loved playing practical jokes and dutifully celebrated April Fools’ Day every year. She was an avid bowler, bowling often with her group, the Keystone Warrenettes and she loved spending time on the beach with a Bloody Mary in her hand. Above all, Alexis was a devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her son, Dennis Knerr Jr., and his wife Lori, her grandchildren; Alyssabeth Bazulka, Ruby Knerr, Anthony Colucci and Gage Colucci, her niece, Jennifer Austin and her foster daughter, Debbie Frutchey. In addition to her husband and her parents, Alexis was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Moppert Johnson.

A Viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at the Finegan Funeral Home, 302 Heckman St, Phillipsburg, NJ, from 10 AM to 12 PM, with a Funeral Service to directly follow. The interment will then be held at the Greenwich Presbyterian Cemetery, Greenwich Township, NJ.
