Alex J. Sinko

Alex J. Sinko, 94, of Alpha, NJ, passed away at home, with his family near his side, on February 4, 2020.

Alex was born in Alpha, NJ, on January 1, 1926, a son of the late John and Irma (Baliant) Sinko. He was the husband of Virginia R. (Hight) Sinko, with whom he celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary last June.

Alex was employed as a meter reader for the Jersey Central Power & Light Co., of Phillipsburg, NJ, retiring after 35 years in 1987. He was a 1944 graduate of Phillipsburg High School, a veteran of the United States Navy, a life member of the John Dolak American Legion Post, and a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Alpha. Alex enjoyed “his” bowling, fishing, hunting, doing his nightly puzzles and his family.

In addition to his loving wife, Virginia, he is survived by his daughter, Susan Lawler, wife of Dennis, his son, Gary, his daughter-in-law, Susan and his grandson, Jamie. In addition to his parents, Alex was predeceased by his sisters; Julia Wilson, Lenka Musgnung, Irma Farkas, Margaret Ohl, his brother, John and a son, James.

A Viewing Hour is scheduled for Friday, February 7, 2020, at the Finegan Funeral Home, 924 Second Avenue, Alpha, NJ, from 10 to 11 AM. The interment is to follow at the United Presbyterian Cemetery, in Alpha, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Presbyterian Church, 859 High St, Alpha, NJ 08865, or to a charity of one’s choice.
